We’ll be prepping for the Global Cannabis March & Festivities Saturday May 1, (MayDay and Beltane) at Pioneer Square 10am to 5pm March begins at High Noon and we’ll be working on our goddess masks and some chants for our marching. Bring your art supplies (if you got them) and we’ll have blank masks!

Who we are and what we do~

The Women’s Council is a gathering of women interested in learning about and experiencing the Divine Feminine. Ws are not tied to any one tradition or metaphor for the Divine, but welcome all traditions and stories.

We gather to express our divinity, experimenting in ritual, creative and healing techniques. Currently we have been working with 5 spiritual forces, embodied by

Wolf, the charismatic leader who does not dominate but invites us to play at leading;

Tiger, the divine spirit of the year according to Chinese Astrology who embodies Courage, Self-Reliance, Friendliness, Hopefulness and Resilience;

Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans who worked across traditions, was said to be a faithful member of the Catholic Church but also danced the sacred dances of her African ancestors with snakes in Congo Square, New Orleans. Marie nursed the sick through yellow fever and the Civil War, and helped abolish public hangings all as a free woman of color while slavery continued in the South;

Sacagawea, the Shoshone woman who led Lewis and Clark to her home, Beaver Rock in Montana and then all the way to the Oregon coast and finally the

Goddess Sativa, the divine green fire that lives in all the healing plants, but specially to Hemp and Cannabis, She who clothes us, feeds us, and provides pain relief and joy as the human spirit requires.

Please join us for the Full and New Moons of the Year at the Village Ballroom 700 NE Dekum; we meet in the Village Ballroom (but may re-locate to the Cannabis Café downstairs, if needed). A $5 fee is asked to cover rental of the space and materials. We meet at 630pm.

The Oregon NORML’s Women’s Council is facilitated by Rebecca Lowe. Rebecca has studied earth based story-telling and ritual through her work as an actor, director, writer, dancer, artist, storyteller, healer, tarot reader and witch for 25 years. Her teachings are influenced by many including the following: Carolyn Altman, Robert Bly, Z. Budapest, Caroline Casey, Kristen Linklater, Martin Prechtel, Tom Spanbauer, Starhawk and Gioia Timpanelli amongst others. Her current project is re-imagining the Asklepian Temple of the classical world: a place for theater, dream incubation, healing and prophecy.
